Sick Leave and Short Term Disability. 14.01 (a) Full-time nurses earn one (1) sick day each month during which they are actually working for the Employer up to a maximum of twelve (12) days. For these purposes, one (1) day equals seven point five (7.5) hours. A maximum of six (6) sick days can be carried over from one calendar year into the next. Unused sick days will not be paid out annually or upon cessation of employment.

Sick Leave and Short Term Disability. Time spent on sick leave including short-term disability shall count as time toward the completion of a year or a portion thereof. Teachers who are using their own sick days at the commencement of the school year shall be given their increment credit for the previous year consistent with the formula contained herein.

Notwithstanding the above, it is understood that persons in the employ of the Association at April 1, 1997, the twelve (12) days shall be fifteen (15) days. b) The employer may hire a contract person to cover the term of disability to a maximum of seventeen (17) weeks notice. Upon the employee's return to work, the employee shall be reinstated to their former position or provided with alternative work of a comparable nature at no less then their wages, adjusted by any seniority or benefits accrued to the commencement of the employee's leave of absence.
c) When the employee on Short Term Disability intends to resume his/her employment, he/she shall so advise the Employer in writing providing at least two
