Common use of Meals and crib time Clause in Contracts

Meals and crib time. Where an employee is required to work overtime in excess of one hour and has not been given notice of same on the previous working day, he/she shall be allowed an amount of $15.00 for each meal. When working overtime for two hours or more, employees shall be allowed to take without deduction of pay, 20 minutes for crib immediately after the ordinary ceasing time, and thereafter 30 minutes for crib shall be allowed after each four hours of continuous work. Provided that where an employee works overtime for two hours without taking the prescribed interval of 20 minutes, he/she shall be deemed to have worked two and one third hours. For the purposes of this sub-clause “usual ceasing time” is at the end of ordinary hours inclusive of time worked for accrual purposes as prescribed in clause 21 – hours of work. When working overtime on a Saturday, the meal break shall be paid at ordinary rates.
