Military Leave - Time of Peace. Whenever any officer or employee shall, by order of the government of the United States or by lawful order of any of its departments or officers, or by lawful order of the State of California, or any of its departments or officers, be directed in time of peace to report and serve in the armed forces of the United States, or in the armed forces of the State of California, said officer or employee shall be entitled to a leave of absence from the employee's office or position during the time of such service and for a period not to exceed three months after the expiration thereof.
