Miniature Digital Video Recorders. 3.2.1 Miniature digital recording devices should have the capacity for use as a body worn solution or in a wide variety of camera concealment devices for covert operations.  They should have a rechargeable power source capable of a minimum of 2 hours recording time and record onto a hard drive or compact flash card (SD) (preferably both).  They should be capable of producing high quality video, stills and audio recordings and be compatible with standard IT and digital recording formats to enable playback and production of DVD evidence with time/date stamp as standard. (Further information on image quality can be found in the Association of Chief Police Officers Guidance)  The equipment should have the ability to format/ amend the date and time / BST without the need for connection to an IT platform.  A wireless remote control, will be required for operations. The remote control should have a vibrating facility and low battery indicator. The encryption solution must be full disk unless approved by the DHCS Information Security Office.
