National EIA Guidance Sample Clauses

National EIA Guidance. ‌ Guidance on the EIA process in Azerbaijan is provided in the Handbook for the Environmental Impact Assessment Process in Azerbaijan. The Handbook introduces the main principles of the ‘western’- type EIA process and details: • The EIA process, i.e. the sequence of events and the roles and responsibilities of applicants and Government institutions; • The purpose and scope of the EIA document; • Public participation in the process; • Environmental review decision (following its submission to the MENR, the ESIA document is reviewed for up to three months by an expert panel); and • The appeal process. A summary of the guidance provided in the Handbook is given in Table 2.4. The approval of an EIA by the MENR establishes the compliance framework, including the environmental and social standards that an organisation should adhere to.
