Teacher The term, “teacher,” shall mean all persons in the appropriate unit employed by the School District in a position for which the person must be licensed by the State of Minnesota, but shall not include superintendent, assistant superintendent, principals and assistant principals who devote more than 50% of their time to administrative or supervisory duties, confidential employees, and such other employees excluded or included by law.
Special Education Teachers 24.5.1 Special education teachers who are involved in the development of Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) shall be granted the necessary time during the school day for testing, conferences, and the writing of IEP(s).
Teachers i. Each teacher shall be given written instructions on the purpose, mechanics, and dimensions of the evaluation procedure, including the teaching standards and rubrics on which the evaluation is based.
Non-Tenured Teachers A leave may be granted to a non-tenured teacher by action of the Board of Education, subject to all the conditions applicable to a tenured teacher. However, for a school term to count toward the attainment of tenure, the non-tenured teacher must work at least one hundred twenty (120) full time employment days. A school term that is not counted toward attainment of tenure shall not be considered a break in service for purposes of determining whether the non- tenured teacher has been employed for the period of time necessary to attain tenure, provided that the non-tenured teacher actually teaches or is otherwise present and participating in District 34’s educational program in the following school term. The granting of maternity leave to any non-tenured teacher shall not constitute a precedent for the granting or withholding of leave to any other non-tenured teacher. Each request shall be judged on its own merits and shall be within the sole discretion of the Board. Additional conditions or restrictions may be established for any such leave, provided nothing herein shall be construed as requiring any non-tenured teacher to apply for such leave or accept the conditions established therefore.
Student Teachers Should USD #325 enter into an agreement with any college to train student teachers, all monies provided by colleges and universities for student teachers should be allocated to Master Teachers in proportion to the amount of classroom time they have the student teacher. Any Master Teacher has the right to refuse a student if they so desire. If all parties agree (Master Teacher, Principal, and student teacher), the student teacher may serve as a substitute for teachers, provided they are substituting in an area for which they are qualified. Cooperatively developed guidelines will be developed and made available to all Master Teachers for the supervision of student teachers.
New Teachers No new teachers shall be hired for a vacancy for which a teacher on unrequested leave is certified.
Mentor Teachers A. A Mentor Teacher shall be defined as a Master Teacher as identified in section 1526 of the School Code and shall perform the duties of a Master Teacher as specified in the code.
