Common use of Notice and Implementation Clause in Contracts

Notice and Implementation. The Company will notify the Union (CRTT-896) in writing in accordance with the Canada Labour Code before introducing new equipment, processes or methods which are likely to necessitate the layoff or transfer of one or more employees. The parties will meet to discuss the proposed changes and work together to minimize any resulting adverse effects on members of the Bargaining Unit, through retraining or other such means as may be feasible and appropriate in the circumstances. Such discussion will include to the extent possible, the nature of the changes, the schedule of implementation, and the number and type of employees likely to be affected. The Company shall provide training on any new technology for all affected employees who require such training in order to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for the job. All questions relating to technological change that the parties are unable to resolve shall be dealt with under the provisions of the Canada Labour Code.
