Occupational First Aid Requirements. The cost of obtaining first-aid certification shall be paid by the Employer or the Employee as follows: i) When an external applicant (outside of the bargaining unit) applies for a first-aid designated position, the Employee shall pay the costs of certification (tuition and time off); ii) When a regular employee applies for a first-aid designated position and is the successful applicant conditional on achieving first-aid certification, the Employer shall pay one-half (½) the tuition costs of certification upon successful completion and shall grant a leave of absence without pay, if necessary; iii) When an employee is laid off and exercises bumping rights to a first-aid designated position, the employee shall pay the cost of certification (tuition and time off); iv) When the Employer designates an employee's position as requiring first-aid certification, the Employer shall pay the cost of certification (tuition and time off).
