Common use of Personal Illness/Family Illness Clause in Contracts

Personal Illness/Family Illness. Any employee whose personal or family illness extends beyond the period compensated under Article X shall be granted upon application to the Superintendent, a leave of absence without pay for such time as necessary for complete recovery from such illness up to a maximum of two (2) years, at which time the employee’s employment with the school district is terminated. At the termination point, the employee may apply for disability retirement if he/she meets the requirements for said retirement. Upon return from this leave of absence, an employee shall be assigned to the same position, or equivalent, they held before they became ill; provided the employee was not off in excess of one (1) year, see Section 13.2.
