The Premium Hours clause defines specific periods during which work performed is compensated at a higher rate than the standard pay. Typically, this applies to hours worked outside of regular business hours, such as nights, weekends, or holidays, and may specify the exact time frames or conditions that trigger premium pay. By clearly outlining when premium rates apply, this clause ensures fair compensation for employees working less desirable shifts and helps employers manage labor costs and scheduling.
Premium Hours. It is the intent of the parties hereto that the overtime premium hours shall be kept equal within eight (8) hours for day workers and sixteen (16) hours for shift workers.

4.04.2 All work performed on an employee’s ninth (9th) consecutive workday and any consecutive day thereafter, shall be premium time and shall be paid for at the rate of time and one-half (1-1/2). This may be waived by mutual agreement between Employer, employee, and the Union; provided, however, the employee will not be discriminated against for reasonable refusal. It is the intent of this provision that back to back scheduling shall only be done where necessary when making shift changes or acceptable in the best interests of both the employee and Employer. In no instance shall this be used to defeat the intent of Article 4, Section 4.01.
