Preparing and/ Sample Clauses

Preparing and/ or improving the ground for walking and cycling We will carry out a walking audit with local politicians and technicians to show how walking and cycling outside the city centre needs to be improved. By doing this, and by walking together with citizens and pupils in the central area of Andritz, deputy mayor, Xxx. Xxxxxx, will demonstrate that walking is an important issue for her. Walking to school together with children would be perfect for this purpose. A similar campaign received a lot of positive media coverage in Switzerland where the federal president accompanied the children. The walking audit will be carried out together with Austrian walking audit experts from “Walk Space”. Against the planning at the time of writing the proposal the walking audit will be carried out not only within one day but as a part of the awareness raising activities. This means that the audit will contain several activities such as observations of neuralgic points (junctions, schools, shopping areas, crossings, PT-nodes etc.), counting of frequencies, interviews with residents, shop owners, representatives of lobby groups, etc. Besides the objective of getting information on the situation of walking in the district of Andritz for possible improvements, another main aim is to raise the awareness for walking among the citizens. Therefore these activities will be carried out from spring to summer. We want to keep the idea of walking always present in the minds of the people. So, the audit is combined with implementations such as testing new behaviour activities. Definition of the area: The area that has been defined is the multifunctional central part of the borough where the majority of the people live. Subcontractors: The walking audit will be carried out together with the Austrian walking audit experts from “Walk Space”. They will be subcontracted. For the kick-off action of all Graz implementations the Australian transport philosopher Xxxxx Xxxxxxxx was subcontracted.
