Common use of Probationary Members Clause in Contracts

Probationary Members. 5.01 A Probationary Member is a person who has little or no experience in the trade. The employer will first attain a referral slip in accordance with Article 5 Union Security from the local union before the Probationary Member commences work and the 500- hour probation will start on first day worked. If by the time the 500-hour probation is complete, and the apprentice has been deemed suitable by both union and employer the Probationary Member will become a member of the union. All wages deductions and contributions for a Probationary Member shall be paid as per Article 29 of the local wage schedule of the provincial agreement for all hours worked.
