PROTECTION OF TEACHERS. A. The Board recognizes its responsibility to give all reasonable support and assistance to teachers with respect to the maintenance of control and discipline in the classroom. Whenever it is apparent to both the regular teacher and the principal that a particular pupil needs special attention or treatment, the principal will seek the appropriate assistance of skilled personnel. B. Any case of assault upon a teacher shall be promptly reported to the Board or its designated representative. The Board will provide legal counsel to advise the teacher of his/her rights and obligations with respect to such assault and shall render all reasonable assistance to the teacher in connection with handling of the incident by law enforcement and judicial authorities. C. If any teacher is complained against or sued by reason of disciplinary action taken by the teacher against a student, the Board will provide legal counsel and render all necessary assistance to the teacher in his/her defense if the teacher is acting in accordance with School Board Policies. D. Time lost by a teacher in connection with any incident mentioned in this Article shall not be charged against the teacher. E. When a teacher is injured in the course of his/her employment with the school system, all medical, surgical and hospital care and other benefits as provided by Xxxxxx's Compensation will be furnished by the Board. F. Teachers shall be expected to exercise reasonable care with respect to the safety of pupils and property. G. The school and the Association agree that neither shall use polygraph or lie detector devices in any investigation of any teacher.
