Provincially Regulated Employees. In the event of the death of a family member, including parent, parent-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, husband, wife, son, son-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, grandparents, grandparents-in-law, and grandchildren, an employee may be granted leave of absence with pay. The supervisor will take into consideration the relationship of the deceased, the distance that the employee has to travel, and the need for the employee to attend to arrangements when deciding how much time is to be granted. Usually a period of up to three days is an adequate amount of time. In the event of the death of a fellow employee, time off with pay may be granted to attend the funeral.
