Purpose of the Sick Leave Bank. The purpose of the Catastrophic Illness or Event Sick Leave Bank is to create a bank of sick days from which participants may apply for additional sick leave days when a catastrophic illness or event occurs and results in the unit member exceeding accumulated sick leave days. A unit member shall exhaust all accrued sick leave prior to utilizing any leave days received from the Bank. Accrued sick leave does not include differential sick leave benefits provided for in this Article.
