Purposes of Sabbatical Leave. 1. Sabbatical Leave is given to teachers to permit them to improve their ability to render educational service. Such improvement is usually achieved by formal study and/or research. Applications for Sabbatical Leave or other types of experiences will be considered on their merits and may be approved by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent. 2. The following information shall be presented in the application as evidence of the employee's plan to fulfill the purposes of the leave: a. For Formal Study - A program of work should be outlined which will qualify the applicant for a higher credential in his/her profession or a program of recognized courses relating to the present or prospective service of the applicant in his/her profession.
