Common use of Religious Day in Lieu Clause in Contracts

Religious Day in Lieu. An Employee who is entitled to time off with pay may choose alternative days as Holidays in lieu of Good Friday, Easter Monday, Christmas and/or Boxing Day pursuant to Article 18.03 (c), 18.05 (a) (ii) and/or 18.06 (a) (ii) to take such time with pay in lieu at a time that permits them to observe a holiday on the day of religious, cultural, or spiritual significance to the employee in lieu of the holidays identified pursuant to this Article. The Employee shall advise their immediate management supervisor in writing of their desire to take such day(s) off in lieu as soon as possible but before March 1st in each year and the immediate management supervisor will endeavour to grant the request where operational requirements permit.
