Replacement of Unplanned Absences*. When an unplanned absence occurs of at least a full shift, the manager or manager’s delegate will review the patient population including acuity, the workload and remaining staffing on the unit and assess and determine the effect of the absence on workload and whether a replacement registered nurse or other classification of care provider is required.
