Requirements For Column Advance. 6.2.2.2.1 Bargaining unit members may move across the salary schedule for completing approved semester units of upper division and graduate courses at an accredited institution. Credit in unique instances approved by the Superintendent or designee may be granted for lower division courses which have direct application to the instructional needs of the students in the District. 6.2.2.2.2 In order to receive credit, units must be approved by the immediate supervisor and the Personnel Officer. All units taken must be directly related to the teaching assignment currently held or prospectively held by the bargaining unit member. Unit credits may be disapproved if, in the opinion of the District, they are not sufficiently related to the position held by the bargaining unit member or sufficiently related to the position which may be prospectively held by the bargaining unit member. 6.2.2.2.3 Bargaining unit members who have completed the 12th step and have on file ninety (90) units by September 30 of the current school year, shall advance to column VII. 6.2.2.2.4 In order to qualify for this column the last fifteen (15) units must have been earned since January 1980. Units may be all college units or a combination of college units and P.G.E.C. units. As covered in Section 6.2.2.2.2 of the current Agreement all units must have received prior approval before credit can be granted by the District.
