Common use of Retention of Benefits Clause in Contracts

Retention of Benefits. An employee will not earn sick pay or vacation credits while on a leave of absence. An employee on a leave of absence, except for maternity or paternity leave, will be required to pay the cost of the insurance benefits provided in Article VI in order to keep these benefits in full force and effect during the period of leave. Arrangements for payments of such costs through normal deductions or otherwise must be made with the entity designated for that purpose by the Employer prior to departure on the leave.
