SCHOOL DAY AND YEAR. A. SCHOOL YEAR The teacher work year will be 182 workdays.
1. One workday shall be dedicated entirely by the district at the beginning of the school year for staff to use in preparation of their teaching area.
2. One workday will be scheduled as a teacher professional development institute day, the subject of which shall be determined based on district goals and teacher input and priorities.
3. No more than two evening activities will be required of a staff member.
B. CALENDAR The president of the Association shall appoint two representatives to meet with the Superintendent to seek to formulate the school calendar and to join in a recommendation for the adoption of such calendar. If the Superintendent and Association representatives cannot agree on such joint recommendation, the Association representatives may submit their own recommendation to the Board concurrently with that of the Superintendent. The Superintendent shall advise the Association president of any recommendation to modify the adopted calendar and offer to meet with the Association representatives to seek to submit a joint recommendation to the Board. The Board shall establish written policy regarding unused emergency days and inform teachers of said policy.
SCHOOL DAY AND YEAR. 1. The school day for elementary bargaining unit members shall be six and one-half (6-1/2) hours plus thirty (30) consecutive duty-free minutes per lunch.
2. The school day for junior and senior high school bargaining unit members shall be six hours and forty-three minutes (6 hrs. 43 min.) plus thirty (30) consecutive duty-free minutes for lunch.
3. The school year shall not exceed 183 bargaining unit member days exclusive of an orientation day for newly employed bargaining unit members. Three (3) of these days shall be used in the following manner:
a. One (1) day for orientation the day before the student year begins, with no less than three (3) hours dedicated to room preparations.
b. One (1) day for completing school records the day after the student year ends.
c. One (1) day for an in-service session.
d. Two (2) of the 183 days may be used in the following manner:
1) parent-teacher conferences.
2) District teacher in-service programs or work days.
4. At least four (4) weeks prior to the last day of school the Superintendent shall submit three (3) calendars to the entire staff for a vote. The majority vote will determine the calendar recommended to the Board for approval. Proposed calendars will include the scheduling of parent-teacher conference days if any.
5. a. When a building or total school is closed because of a school closure day, Bargaining Unit Members regularly assigned to that building or school shall lose no personal or sick leave days nor leave of any kind for that day.
b. If the school is on a one (1) hour delay or two (2) hour delay, the Bargaining Unit Member’s day shall reflect this delay.
c. Contingency plans for scheduling when there is a one (1) or two (2) hour delay shall be incorporated into the teacher’s handbook.

SCHOOL DAY AND YEAR. A. Teachers will be expected to be at school fifteen minutes before the beginning of the students’ school day and to stay until fifteen minutes after the students’ dismissal, except for assigned duties.
B. The school year will be scheduled between the last two weeks in August through July l. The ensuing year’s calendar will be finalized by no later than the June School Board meeting, pending extenuating circumstances. The Board shall distribute the calendar to all members of the professional staff for their comments and suggestions fifteen (15) days prior to its adoption. Changes to the calendar will only be made after seeking additional input from the staff.
C. For the duration of this agreement, all individual contracts will be for one hundred eighty-five(185) days. The 181st, 182nd, and 183rd days will be determined as they have been in the past. The 184th and 185th days will be determined in mutual agreement with the Association.
D. Teachers may be required to be present at school before or after the defined school day to attend to those matters which properly require attention, including parent conferences, consultations or other activities scheduled with or directly involving the teacher. The administration reserves the right and the discretion to schedule meetings to conduct the proper administration of the schools. Staff meetings will start within 15 minutes of the end of the school day and not extend beyond one hour in duration, except upon mutual consent of both parties.
SCHOOL DAY AND YEAR. A. The unit member’s day shall begin ten (10) minutes before the entrance xxxx and end twenty-five (25) minutes after the dismissal xxxx unless the unit member has assigned duties or other professional responsibilities.
B. Elementary school unit members shall have a fifteen (15) minute planning and preparation period exclusive of their twenty-five (25) minute lunch period. Every effort shall be made to provide an additional fifteen (15) minutes of planning and preparation time whenever possible.
1. During days of inclement weather, the assigned duty unit members and aides will be responsible for monitoring students.
2. The number of personnel assigned to any given duty will not be increased without mutual agreement by the Board and the Association.
C. For the duration if this agreement, all individual contracts will be for one hundred eighty-four (184)days. Four(4) days will be in-service days, with one (1) to occur the day prior to the start of school and the other three (3) to occur during the school year.
SCHOOL DAY AND YEAR. A. The length of the instructional day from entrance to dismissal will be six (6) hours and 45 minutes. The length of the unit member’s day including fifteen (15) minutes before the entrance bell and end twenty-five (25) minutes after the dismissal bell will be seven (7) hours and twenty-five (25) minutes unless the unit member has assigned duties or other professional responsibilities.
B. Unit members shall have a daily planning and preparation period exclusive of their duty free lunch.
1. During days of inclement weather, the assigned duty unit members and aides will be responsible for monitoring students.
2. Notwithstanding emergencies or extenuating circumstances, the number of personnel assigned to any given duty will not be increased without mutual agreement by the Building Principal and the Association.
C. For the duration of the agreement, all individual contracts will be for one hundred eight-six (186) days. 186 days: 180 student instructional days
SCHOOL DAY AND YEAR. 8-1 Each teacher of the high school is expected to be in the school and be on duty before and/or after school for a total of forty (40) minutes daily to plan and carry out professional responsibilities. On days when final examinations are administered to students, a member may leave the high school building beginning at 12:30 p.m. provided all professional responsibilities are completed and the member has informed the office of the building principal that he/she is leaving the building.
8-1.1 Recognizing that certain positions may require a work day that differs from that in place during the 2014-2015 school year, the Administration may, after consulting with the Teacher and the Association, agree to a work day that is the same length as all members of the bargaining unit that may begin and end at different times. In no case will a teacher be required to accept the changed work day.
8-2 Each teacher of an Elementary School will be on duty before and/or after school for a total of forty (40) minutes daily to plan and carry out individual professional responsibilities. The Principal may approve exceptions.
8-3 Should the length of the teachers' work day be increased, teachers shall be compensated at the hourly rate of 1/1295 of their annual salary.
8-4 If a teacher's work year is extended by the Board beyond 186 days, additional compensation for any such days shall be at the rate of 1/186 of the teacher's salary. If a teacher's work year is reduced by the Board to less than 186 days, the compensation for any affected teacher shall be reduced by 1/186th for each day that the work year is reduced. Non-tenured teachers new to the profession may be required to attend one (1) day of additional orientation and training as part of their scheduled employment year during the first year of their employment.

If a teacher's work year is reduced by the Board to less than 185 days, the compensation for any affected teacher shall be reduced by 1/185th for each day that the work year is reduced.

If a teacher's work year is extended by the Board beyond 186 days, additional compensation for any such days shall be at the rate of 1/186 of the teacher's salary. If a teacher's work year is reduced by the Board to less than 186 days, the compensation for any affected teacher shall be reduced by 1/186th for each day that the work year is reduced.
8-4 Notwithstanding Section 8-3 above, the teacher work year for new hires in the district shall be 187 work days. The additional orientation day shall occur in August, before the school year commences.
