Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits. 12.2.1 To be eligible for a District contribution toward health and welfare benefits in retirement, unit members must, at the time of their retirement: (1) be at least fifty five (55) years old;; (2) have been employed by the District for twenty (20) or more years; and (3) have been employed as a unit member prior to July 1, 1988. Unit members hired on or after July 1, 1988 shall not be eligible for a District contribution for health benefits but may purchase benefits as set forth in 12.2.4 below.
