RETIREMENT SYSTEM STATUS AND TAXES. Contractor represents and warrants that it is not a contributing member of the Public Employees' Retirement System and will be responsible for any federal or state taxes applicable to payment received under this Contract. Contractor will not be eligible for any benefits from these Contract payments of federal Social Security, employment insurance, workers' compensation or the Public Employees' Retirement System, except as a self-employed individual. Unless the Contractor is subject to backup withholding, Owner will not withhold from such payments any amount(s) to cover Contractor’s federal or state tax obligations.
