Common use of Right to Select Carriers Clause in Contracts

Right to Select Carriers. (A) The benefit provided for herein shall be provided through a self-insured plan or under group insurance policy or policies issued by an insurance company or insurance companies selected by the City. "Insurance Companies" include regular life insurance companies and non-profit organizations providing hospital, surgical or medical benefits. If these benefits are insured by an insurance company, all benefits are subject to the provisions of the policies between the City and the insurance companies. (B) The City shall notify and consult with the Union before changing insurance carriers or self-insuring. Notwithstanding any such changes, the level of benefits shall remain substantially the same.
