School District Protection. Device Protection Plan is available for students and parents to cover the device’s replacement in the event of accidental damage. The protection cost is $20.00, PER SCHOOL YEAR, for each device and will only cover one repair. A second plan may be purchased if a device is damaged and coverage is used. Only two protection plans are available per student, per school year. After two plans have been used, all further repairs within the current school year are charged to parents. This Technology Device Protection Plan Agreement, which is signed each year by the parent/guardian and student, will be kept on file with the homeroom teacher or Technology Department. This signed form must be accompanied by the $20 protection plan fee. A copy will be given to the parent/guardian upon request.

The Xxxxxx School District carries insurance for devices that are stolen, lost, or damaged by fire. The user is responsible for the $250 deductible for these perils. Intentional damage is likely to not be covered by any insurance protection. Please consult with your insurance agent for details about your personal coverage of the device computer.

No family will be charged more than $105 (cost of coverage for three (3) students). Those families requiring financial assistance may contact their child’s school office. Policies purchased mid-year will not be prorated and will follow the same pricing structure. The plan includes the first repair of any part of the device, up to three separate repairs, as long as the damage is not due to the negligence of the user or malicious behavior. Devices in need of repair that were not kept in the protective case provided by the District will be charged a $20 copay for each instance of repair.
School District Protection a. Auburn High School assumes responsibility for Chromebook repairs or replacement due to normal and typical daily use. The District will provide students instructions regarding the procedures for handling requested repairs on each campus. District technology staff will provide repair and replacement services and will notify the student when the Chromebook is again available for use. (Do not attempt to repair the Chromebook yourself or to have the device serviced by a third party.)

The protection cost is $50.00 annually for each device with a maximum cost of $100.00 per family and includes a $100.00 additional charge for each claim. • Students or parents may wish to carry their own personal insurance to protect the device in cases of theft, loss, or accidental damage by fire. Please consult with your insurance agent for details about your personal coverage of the device. • The enclosed Insurance Form must be completed by each family before the student is issued a device.

Parents can also opt out of the insurance policy, but know that they are responsible for the $350 it costs to replace the laptop.
School District Protection. NASD is self-insuring all District issued computers. The premium for insurance is $15 per student, which enrolls you in the NASD insurance program. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, there will be NO premium for the 2021-2022 school year. The program affords reduced financial obligation in the event of damage, theft, and loss. Families participating in the Free or Reduced Lunch program will be exempt from the insurance premium of $15.
School District Protection. Parent/Student choose to pay the school district an annual protection payment for coverage of theft or damage by fire in the amount of $25 or $50 for family coverage when there are two or more children in high school using laptop computers. The $25 payment is non-refundable. This protection coverage has up to a $200 additional charge per occurrence. This annual coverage begins upon receipt of the payment and ends at the conclusion of each school year.
