Seniority Accumulation During Education Leave. Employees granted leave of absence for education which will improve the employees' ability to perform her duties shall accumulate seniority during such leave to a maximum of one (1) year.

Seniority Accumulation (a) (i) Part-time employees shall have their seniority expressed on the basis of number of hours worked in the bargaining unit. (The foregoing is for clarity only and therefore does not modify an employee’s level of seniority under this collective agreement or previous collective agreements.)
Paid Education Leave The Company agrees to pay into a special fund, one (1¢) cent per hour per employee for all compensated hours for the purpose of providing paid education leave. Such leave will be for upgrading the employee skills in all aspects of trade union functions. Sick Leave Accumulation Each employee who has at least one (1) year of service with the Company and who has worked a minimum of sixteen hundred (1600) hours during the preceding twelve (12) calendar months shall be eligible for sick leave allowance. An employee whose failure to work at least sixteen hundred (1600) hours during the twelve (12) calendar months immediately preceding May 1 was occasioned by: a work related injury/illness, provided they have worked at least 520 hours during the said twelve (12) months, or approved leaves of absence not exceeding a total of thirty (30) calendar days, will be entitled to their regular sick leave allowance.
Education Leave (a) If required by the Employer, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications.
Seniority Date Employees shall acquire seniority upon completion of the probationary period as defined in Article XIII and upon acquiring seniority, the seniority date shall relate back to the first date of continuous service in the bargaining unit. If more than one employee commences work on the same date, lot shall determine seniority ranking for such employees. A District-Wide seniority list will be provided for the exclusive representative no later than November 1 of each year.
