Common use of Seniority Definition Clause in Contracts

Seniority Definition. (a) Seniority shall, for the purpose of this Agreement, mean continuous employment with this Board and its predecessor Boards. Seniority shall apply only to the members of the Local Elementary and Secondary Bargaining Units since the most recent date of hire. (b) A redundant teacher who maintains a position on the recall list shall be deemed to have had continuous employment for seniority purposes.

Seniority Definition. (b) A redundant teacher who maintains a position on the joint recall list shall be deemed to have had continuous employment for seniority purposes.

Seniority shall apply only be reflected in the list published by the District annually. Application of seniority in cases of involuntary transfer is limited to the members of grade level or department being reduced or reorganized. For example, if the Local Elementary need arises to reduce one third grade teacher from a building and Secondary Bargaining Units since no volunteers are available, then the most recent date of hire. (b) A redundant third grade teacher who maintains a position on having the recall list least seniority shall be deemed to have had continuous employment for seniority purposesinvoluntarily transferred.
