Shift Transfers. When Management elects to transfer a Local member/employee, management will normally give the employee a 20 work days notice of the shift transfer. This 20 work days notice is waived for transfers that meet an operational need that requires immediate action. Operational need is defined as addressing an issue that deals with the safety and/or security of a firefighter and/or staffing level issues. In addition, the affected employee(s) may also waive the notification period by providing prior approval of the transfer. All previously approved leave of an employee that is later transferred shall be considered as approved and allowed to be taken after the transfer. If the shift transfer requires a switch on station assignment, the vacancy is filled using the below section.
