Sick Leave Benefit Policy. Employees who are eligible to receive a retirement, disability retirement or death benefits under the Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Fund - Wisconsin Retirement System at the time of their separation shall be paid the employee's accumulated sick leave as severance pay up to a maximum total of nine hundred and sixty (960) hours. Any accumulated hours over nine hundred and sixty (960) hours shall not be paid. The value of the accumulated sick leave shall be computed at the regular hourly rate in effect at the date of retirement or death, excluding shift differential or any other additions to the regular hourly rate. If due to an employee’s death, the payment shall be made to the surviving spouse. Employees/spouses shall be taxed on the payout of the accumulated sick leave.
