Stand-By Drivers. The Contractor shall maintain no less than ten percent (10%) of drivers as stand-by drivers each and every day for a.m., mid-day and p.m. routes. Stand-by drivers should be the most capable and experienced drivers and must have no less than two (2) years consecutive experience as a bus driver assigned to MPS contracts. Contractors that are awarded athletic and/or after school activity service shall be required to have an additional 2 percent of stand-by drivers, for a total of twelve percent (12%) stand-by drivers. Contractors may not count Field Supervisors or dispatch staff as stand-by drivers. Contractors must ensure that stand-by drivers are dispatched in a timely manner to insure that all bus stops are picked up on time. Failure to maintain an adequate staff of stand-by drivers may result in cancellation of route(s).
