Stand-by Duty. A. Effective July 8, 2007, an employee who is required by the department head to leave instructions as to where he/she may be reached in order to report to work when necessary shall be reimbursed at a rate not to exceed seventeen dollars and fifty cents ($17.50) for such stand-by period. B. The stand-by period shall be fifteen (15) hours in duration for any night stand-by duty, and shall be nine (9) hours in duration for any daytime stand-by duty. C. Stand-by duty shall mean that a department head has ordered any employee to be immediately available for duty upon receipt of a message to report to work. If any employee assigned to stand-by duty is not available to report to duty when called, no stand-by pay shall be paid to the employee for the period. D. Should an employee be called off stand-by duty to perform work, such employee shall receive, in addition to his/her stand-by pay, additional pay for all hours worked on an overtime basis in accordance with Section 2 (overtime) and Section 5 (callback) of this Article and all other relevant provisions of this Agreement. E. When the practice has been for the Employer to provide the employees on stand-by with a beeper, this practice shall continue.

Stand-by Duty. An employee is considered on duty and time spent on standby shall be considered hours of work if, for work related reasons, the employee is restricted to a designated post of duty and is assigned to be in a state of readiness to perform work with limitations on the employee’s activities so substantial that the employee cannot use the time effectively for his/her own purpose. The Parties agree that compensatory time shall be used in standby situations. a. The Agency shall make every reasonable effort to provide an employee advance notice specifying the beginning and ending period that the employee is on a standby status. b. The Agency agrees that when an employee is placed in a standby status, compensatory time shall be granted for the standby period provided the following are apparent: (1) The employee is restricted to his/her living quarters or designated post of duty; (2) Has his/her activities substantially limited; and (3) Is required to remain in a state of readiness to perform work. c. The Agency shall notify an employee who is on standby status of its cancellation as soon as possible. d. Employees will be given compensatory time in equal amounts spent by them in irregular or overtime work.
Stand-by Duty. 10.1 Each member covered by this Agreement, including Cadets, who is directed to stand by for duty, while off duty, for any reason, shall be paid at the rate of three (3) hours for each twenty-four (24) hours or part thereof until notified to stand down. E. An employee who is required by the Department head as a condition of employment to be available by electronic device to report to duty immediately upon being paged shall be reimbursed at a rate not to exceed seventeen dollars and fifty cents ($17.50) for such stand-by period. Whenever practicable the electronic pager, if provided, shall be given to the Institution Maintenance Xxxxxxx if available for such duty or either to the Plumber Xxxxxxx or the Electrician Xxxxxxx

Stand-by Duty. Stand-by procedures may be established by the Department Head in accordance with the provisions of the salary resolution. Employees assigned to stand-by duty by their Department Heads shall be compensated and governed by the following: A. Stand-by duty requires that employees so assigned: 1. Be ready and take steps immediately to respond within a reasonable time to calls for their services; 2. Be readily reachable by telephone or paging device; 3. Remain within a specified distance or time from their work stations; and 4. Refrain from activities which might impair their ability to perform their assigned duties. B. Compensation shall be at the rate of $4.00 per hour for each hour on such stand- by duty and shall be paid at the same time as scheduled for the pay period in which the stand-by duty was performed. C. Stand-by pay, when properly authorized, shall be paid for a minimum of one hour. D. Employees other than those exempted from overtime compensation shall, when called to active duty while on standby duty status, be compensated for such active duty at the applicable overtime rate. Work time for employee called to active duty while on stand-by status shall begin at the time of notification to report to a job site and shall continue until the employee completes work and returns to home (or the location called out from), the nearest regular work site or the county line, whichever is the shortest distance. A minimum of one hour at the appropriate rate shall be paid in those cases when an employee on stand-by status is required to report to a job site, but the minimum shall not apply for work performed at another location. E. No employee or other qualified person shall be paid for stand-by duty time and other compensable duty time simultaneously.
Stand-by Duty. (a) Employees whose job requirements include assignment to take emergency calls outside of normal scheduled hours will be required, during periods of such assignment, to make themselves available to their reporting location within thirty minutes (30) . Contact by the Public Utilities Commission to individuals on such stand-by duty shall be by a cell phone, to be furnished by the HPUC. (b) When employees have been placed "on call" they shall be called before or concurrently with other employees in the case of emergencies. (c) The "on call" employee shall complete the form associated with trouble calls and shall submit a concise report as to the difficulty involved, the corrective action associated therewith and, if there is a delay in restoring services, an explanation shall also be provided for this delay. The "on call" employee shall call in an extra employee(s) for assistance only after determining that such help is required. (d) Any “on call” employee who is assigned by the Commission to take emergency calls outside his normal scheduled hours will be paid at basic straight time rates as shown below Monday through Friday 1.5 hours Saturday, Sunday 3 hours Holidays 4.5 hours If called upon to perform work, in addition to the call-time pay, the employee will be paid for the time worked at the rate applicable but not less than three (3) hours at the applicable overtime rate for each time called out. (e) On a recognized holiday, the on-call employee shall receive three (3) hours holiday pay starting at 7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. for said holiday plus normal rate. (f) An employee "on call" under the stand-by portion of this Agreement is responsible for notifying the Commission if he/she becomes too ill to perform the job in the event of an emergency call. This would apply whether the employee was out sick for the regular shift or if the incapacity occurred during or after the regular shift had been completed. Such notification in the event of illness or serious accident is paramount to the continued success of serving the Commission's customers in an emergency situation. Any hours of pay earned from the stand-by provision may be converted to compensatory time in accordance with Article VI Section 11. One hour of stand-by pay would convert to one hour of compensatory time. (g) If an on-call employee does not report to the Plant Operations Shift Coordinator in the time allotted in Section (a), or fails to respond to his/her page, the "on call" employee shall forfei...
