UNION AND EMPLOYEE RIGHTS. Employees shall have the right without fear of penalty or reprisal to join and assist the Union.
UNION AND EMPLOYEE RIGHTS. A. Except for the purpose of collecting dues or service fees from employees, the Union and its representatives shall have the use of school facilities according to the written policies of the Board of Education, which govern other community citizens' groups. The cost of hourly personnel required, materials, equipment use, additional maintenance and other expenses related to such use shall be charged to the Union at school district cost. The school buildings, facilities, and equipment shall not be used by an employee for his/her private use without obtaining approval from the Superintendent/designee. B. Listed Union Representatives and officers of the Union shall be permitted to transact official Union business on school property with members of the Union, provided that this shall not interrupt normal school operation, or interfere with the discharge of individual duties. The Union shall provide a list of Union Representatives and Union officers to the Board within ten (10) working days of an election and/or change of representatives or officers. C. Except for the purpose of collecting dues or service fees from employees, the Union shall have the privilege to use school business machines, school mail systems and audio-visual equipment for Union business, when such equipment isn't otherwise in use, after prior approval has been obtained from the supervisor of the equipment. The Union will pay for the cost of all materials and supplies incidental to such use based on school district cost. It is understood that use of district equipment will not interfere with student services. D. The Union shall have the right to post notices of its activities and matters of Union concern on designated bulletin boards, at least one of which shall be provided in each school building and transportation lounges. The Union may use mailboxes for communication to members. No member shall be prevented from wearing insignia, pins or other identification of membership in the Union. E. The Board agrees to furnish, in a timely manner, to the Union in response to written requests, from time to time, all readily available information concerning the financial resources of the district, and such other readily available information as will assist the Union in developing intelligent, accurate, informed and constructive programs on behalf of the members. UNION AND EMPLOYEE RIGHTS. A. Meetings, Notices, Information (Full-Time and Part-Time) 1. Board Packet A copy of the Board packet, agenda, non-confidential exhibits, and minutes shall be made available to the Union President or designee at his or her work station by 3:00 P.M. Friday before the regularly scheduled Board meeting on Tuesday. A copy of materials furnished to representatives of the press and other organizations at the Board meetings shall be provided to the Union President or designee prior to or within twenty-four (24) hours following the Board meeting.
UNION AND EMPLOYEE RIGHTS. A. Subject to obtaining prior authorization from the Superintendent or his/her designee, the Union shall have the right to use school district facilities and office equipment (i.e. copy machine, etc.). In the event there is cost incurred through such usage or damage resulting from such use, the Union will reimburse the District for such costs. B. Subject to obtaining prior approval of the Superintendent or his/her designee, duly authorized representatives of the Union who are not employees of the District will be permitted to transact official Union business on the District's premises. C. The Union shall have the right to post official notices of Union activities and other correspondence in locations in each building designated by the Superintendent or his/her designee. The notices will be signed and dated by the Union official responsible for the distribution of the posting. Subject to the rules and regulations of the postal authorities, the Union may use the inter- district mail service and mail boxes for the distribution of correspondence to bargaining unit employees. The rights conveyed in this provision will not be used to distribute information, which is detrimental or derogatory with respect to the District, its employees or the Board of Education. D. No employee who has completed the probationary period set forth in Article 6 shall be disciplined without just or reasonable cause. E. Employees on the negotiation team will not lose pay for hours associated with negotiations sessions, if the parties have mutually agreed to schedule during an employees working hours.
UNION AND EMPLOYEE RIGHTS. Pursuant to Michigan Statutes, the Board hereby agrees that every employee in this bargaining unit shall have the right to organize, join, and support the Union.
UNION AND EMPLOYEE RIGHTS. Section 1: An employee shall have the right to have a xxxxxxx or union representative of their choosing present at any meeting with the Employer, or its agents, for which there is a purpose of investigating alleged or suspected misconduct by the employee that might be the basis for, or which may result in, discharge, suspension or any other disciplinary action with respect to the employee. If the employee indicates that he/she wishes a xxxxxxx or representative present, and on is not available, the meeting shall be temporarily postponed until one can attend. In the event of suspension or discharge due to urgent circumstances, a non-xxxxxxx employee may be selected by the employee in question to serve as a witness to the discipline. Section 2: Stewards shall be recognized by the Employer as representatives of the employees for the purposes of enforcing this agreement, and shall generally act as representatives of the Union on the job. A xxxxxxx may request to be released from their regular duties to investigate grievances on Employer time and be paid at their regular hourly rate. Requests to conduct such investigations shall not be unreasonably withheld. The Xxxxxxx shall contact his/her supervisor in advance to determine a time when such an investigation will not interfere with the Xxxxxxx’x work and the work of the person with whom the Xxxxxxx wants to meet. No xxxxxxx shall have any authority to order or cause a strike, slowdown, or cessation of work, and the Xxxxxxx shall not interfere with the Manager in the Manager’s running of the Unit. Section 3: Union representatives shall have the right to visit the Employer’s employees for the purposes of distributing Union information, investigating grievances or potential grievances, and meeting with employees prior to any disciplinary or grievance meeting. The Union representative must follow the District’s school visitation policy. Section 4: Upon hire, new employees will be given 30 unpaid minutes prior to the start of their first shift to meet with the Union representative to receive Union information and an explanation of the Union contract benefits and Union membership. Section 5: The Employer in conjunction with the employees are responsible for maintaining a safe working environment and shall supply all safety devices and equipment as required by law. Additionally, the Employer will provide safety training as requested by the employees or Union.

Xxxxxxxx to Act 379 of the Public Acts of 1965, the Employer hereby agrees that every teacher employed by the Board shall have the right freely to join and support the Union for the purpose of engaging in collective bargaining or negotiation and other lawful activities. The parties undertake and agree that they will not directly or indirectly discourage or deprive or coerce any teacher in the enjoyment of any rights conferred by Act 379, or other laws of Michigan or the Constitutions of Michigan and the United States; that they will not discriminate against any teacher with respect to hours, wages, or any terms or conditions of employment, by reasons of his membership in the Union, his participation in any activities of the Union or collective professional negotiations with the Employer or his institution of any grievance, complaint, or proceeding under this Agreement or otherwise with respect to any terms or conditions of employment. B. Nothing contained here shall be construed to deny or restrict to any teacher rights he may have under the Michigan General School Laws or other applicable laws and regulations. The rights granted to teachers in this contract shall be deemed to be in addition to those provided under the law. X. Xxxx authorized representatives of the WC-MEA/NEA shall be permitted to transact official Union business on school property. D. Teacher organizations affiliated with the Union have a right to use school facilities on the same basis as other community organizations or groups. The Union may request the use of buildings, facilities and equipment through proper channels set up by the Employer. E. Use of office, lounge and workroom bulletin boards will be arranged by the principals and the Union representatives.
