Student Discipline. 1. Physical restraint may be used by a teacher in extraordinary cases of discipline to contain a disruptive pupil, provided the force used is reasonable. The teacher shall inform the principal at once of such an action and shall make an accurate written account of it within 24 hours, if possible. 2. The Board and the Union agree that the classroom teacher should be able to deal effectively with the normal problems of discipline in the classroom. However, when in the judgment of the teacher, a student's behavior seriously disrupts the instructional program to the detriment of the other students or creates an emergency, the classroom teacher shall have the authority to request and receive immediate assistance in classroom management, and have the student temporarily removed from the classroom by referral to the principal or his designee for behavior management intervention.
