Supervisor Notification to HR. NMSU will require that supervisors and academic administrators promptly notify the Human Resources Department (“HR”) when any employee makes the supervisor aware of any situation which may constitute an FMLA qualifying event, whether or not FMLA leave is requested or contemplated by the employee. This requirement will be set forth in published rules and will be emphasized in all supervisor training sessions. Upon such notification, the NMSU HR unit will issue a written notice of (1) FMLA eligibility and (2) FMLA rights and responsibilities to the employee. Upon receipt of adequate information, the HR unit will then review the situation and issue FMLA notices of qualification (or non-qualification) and designation of leave as FMLA as required by the FMLA.
