SUPPORT FOR BASIC AND UNSATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE. 1. The Association will be notified when any teacher is judged below Proficient -3, within ten (10) school days. 2. The district shall support the professional development of the teacher. Any teacher whose performance is judged below proficient shall be provided the following conditions: a. The teacher’s class size will not exceed the limits established in this Agreement; b. The teacher shall be granted up to two (2) days of release time to observe colleagues’ instruction; c. The teacher may be granted an additional certificated employee evaluator; d. The teacher may be assigned only one (1) work location, i.e., one classroom; e. A mentor may be assigned if requested by the employee; f. The teacher may choose to transfer to another school with District approval; g. The teacher may choose to participate in a voluntary structured support plan; h. Additional supports may include, but are not limited to: university course work, peer coaching, reading material, and District or ESD staff development courses. The District will provide and pay for any required in-service training and any required mentor (RCW 28A.405.140). 3. In such cases that a teacher with more than five (5) years of experience receives a summative evaluation score below Proficient, the teacher must be formally observed before October 15th the following year. If the 1st Formal Observation in that following year results in ongoing and specific performance concerns, a written support plan for professional growth and coaching will be mutually developed by the evaluator and teacher within ten (10) days following the 1st First Post-
