SURS Employment Dates. As described elsewhere in this contract, adjuncts’ course assignments require that some of their work is conducted before and after the period when classes are in session. For the purposes of reporting adjuncts’ employment information to the State Universities Retirement System (SURS), the College will record an adjunct’s dates worked for each semester as follows: • the work start date for a semester will be the “Faculty Return” date indicated in the Academic Calendar; • the work end date will be the “Grades Due” date indicated in the Academic Calendar. This shall be the case irrespective of actual start and end dates for class sessions. This practice will take effect at the start of the Fall 2018 semester.
