Course Assignments. 4.4.1 Normally, unit members will not be assigned more than three (3) different courses concurrently. A course is defined as any single discipline offering of three (3) units or more or any series of sequential discipline offerings where the unit total is at least three (3). Exceptions shall be by mutual agreement between unit members and supervisors.
4.4.2 Except as indicated in Section 4.4.2.1, tenure-track faculty in the first or second year shall be limited to 0.4 FTE of online or other distance education modes of instruction in any semester. Tenure-track faculty in the third or fourth year shall be limited to 0.6 FTE of online or other distance education modes of instruction in any semester. These FTE limits are exclusive of ITV (Interactive Television) courses.
4.4.2.1 Tenure-track faculty hired specifically for distance education programs may be required to teach up to 0.6 FTE in distance education courses in any semester. A distance education program is one which is primarily offered online. The job description/advertisement shall state that the position is for a distance education program and the faculty member may be required to teach up to sixty percent (60%) online.
4.4.3 Tenured faculty shall normally be limited to 0.6 FTE of online or other distance education modes of instruction in any semester. However, tenured faculty may be assigned to 0.8 FTE of online or other distance education modes of instruction by mutual agreement with the Area Xxxx due to program demands. Course Assignments. For each standard course, excluding special projects and independent study courses, identified in the College catalog, the credit-hour value, weekly "classroom hours" and weekly "laboratory hours" are designated.
Course Assignments. 14.01 The Courses available each session shall be posted on the CCE Instructor Site at least fifty-six (56) Days before the beginning of the session. Instructors, as well as the Union, shall be informed by email when Courses are posted.
14.02 The Course offerings shall indicate for each Course:

4.4.4 Faculty choosing to accept an assignment in distance education modes of instruction shall demonstrate preparation to teach in these modes by meeting a minimum eligibility requirement. The District shall provide a standard distance education professional development training opportunity for faculty to meet this requirement. Completion of the training can be applied towards tenured and tenure-track faculty Flex, College Service obligations, or one unit of class advancement. Adjunct faculty can choose to be compensated for completion of the training through either a non-load attributable stipend, for fifteen (15) hours of training at the Class II, Step 1 placement on Schedule B2, or one (1) unit of class advancement, or to meet Flex obligation. Course Assignments. An ESL Instructor’s scheduling preferences will be considered when making course assignments, subject to operational requirements first being met. Any conflict between scheduling preferences will be resolved on a seniority basis.
Course Assignments. Appointments may include a varying number of Courses based on the Tier of the Bargaining Unit Faculty and the criteria set forth in this Article. Courses assigned outside the schedule above shall be offered to the Bargaining Unit Faculty on the qualified list for that course in accordance with this Section. A Bargaining Unit Faculty member who receives a course assignment shall notify the College of acceptance or rejection within two (2) weeks of the date sent. Courses will be offered to Adjunct Assistant & Adjunct Associate Faculty members in the following order:
1. Seniority of those who have taught the course previously up to their average.
2. Seniority of those who have not taught the course up to their average.
3. Seniority rotation above their average up to seven (7) course values.
4. New hires. For purposes of this section, seniority is defined by the number of times the Adjunct Assistant & Adjunct Associate Faculty member has taught the course. In the event of a tie, seniority will be determined by total courses taught at the College. If no qualified Adjunct Assistant & Adjunct Associate Faculty members who have submitted their names in accordance with this Article are available, then the College may post the position and hire the most qualified applicant as determined by the Department Chair and Xxxx. New courses will be offered to the Adjunct Assistant & Adjunct Associate Faculty member with appropriate credentials and qualifications, including sub-specialties and areas of particular expertise. Where such factors are deemed relatively equal, new courses are offered first to the most senior Adjunct Assistant & Adjunct Associate Faculty members, where seniority is determined by the number of courses previously taught at the College. If no qualified Adjunct Assistant & Adjunct Associate Faculty members who have submitted their names in accordance with this Article are available, then the College may post the position and hire the most qualified applicant as determined by the Department Chair and Xxxx.
Course Assignments. 38 The University will offer classes to existing Adjuncts before hiring new Adjuncts. 39 Administrators will offer classes to as many Adjuncts with assignment rights as possible. 40 All offers of classes will take into account the Adjunct faculty members teaching history 41 and areas of expertise. 42 43 Departments will offer classes to Adjuncts as follows: 44 Collective Bargaining Agreement between PSU and PSUFA 2021-2025
1 a) First, two courses will be offered to Adjuncts on two-year appointments, as 2 described in Article 8, Section 3.4, If more than one Adjunct in a department or 3 program are on two-year appointments, courses will be offered according to 4 appointment order, as defined in Article 8, Section 3.1.
6 b) Second, one course will be offered to Adjuncts on one-year appointments, as 7 described in Article 8, Section 3.3. If more than one Adjunct in a department or 8 program are on one-year appointments, courses will be offered according to 9 appointment order, as defined in Article 8, Section 3.1.
11 c) Remaining courses will be distributed by repeating the above steps as needed 12 until Adjuncts’ minimum teaching assignments have been met or until all courses 13 have been assigned.
15 d) If all Adjuncts with assignment rights have been given courses that reflect their 16 assignment rights, all remaining Adjuncts who have been working on a term-by- 17 term basis and/or newly hired Adjuncts will be given courses according to their 18 accumulated credit load.
20 e) In cases when departments undergo curricular changes that impact multiple 21 courses taught by Adjuncts, all Adjuncts with assignment rights will be notified in 22 advance and provided an opportunity to show evidence of their abilities to teach 23 the new courses. The final decision to assign this work will be determined by the 24 academic judgment of the Chair.
26 f) If courses that occur during an Adjunct faculty member’s appointment are 27 expected to be cancelled or modified, the faculty member will be notified at least 28 one term in advance.
30 g) If an Adjunct does not receive their established assignment rights due to an error 31 in the application of the assignment rights process, they may seek redress 32 through the grievance procedure.
34 h) Neither the University nor its Departments, schools, or colleges shall establish a 35 policy which arbitrarily limits the number of academic terms or years during which 36 a member may be employed.
