TEACHER IN CHARGE. 1. A Teacher-in-Charge vacancy shall be posted internally within the school. 2. In each school the Board shall fill the Teacher-in-Charge vacancy from among the applicants who responded to the internal posting. 3. In the event that any or all administrative officers assigned to the school are absent from the school, the Teacher-In-Charge may be assigned for periods not exceeding five days at any one time. 4. The Teacher-In-Charge shall not be responsible for the ongoing administrative or managerial duties, and specifically shall not have such responsibilities in relation to other teachers or parents. 5. The Teacher-In-Charge shall ensure that routine supervision necessary for the safety of students and security of the school is maintained and shall handle emergency matters with assistance from district supervisory staff. 6. The teacher shall be covered by the terms and conditions of this Agreement while designated as a teacher-in-charge. 7. A teacher who is designated as a teacher-in-charge shall be provided with any necessary teacher- teaching-on-call coverage as determined by the Administrative Officer and the teacher.

TEACHER IN CHARGE. 18.01 A teacher may be appointed by the Superintendent as a Teacher in Charge in accordance with this Article. 18.02 In the event that all administrative personnel assigned to the school are absent from the school, the Teacher in Charge may be requested to assume the duties specified in this Article. 18.03 The Teacher in Charge, when requested to act, shall attend to ensuring that routine supervision adequate to secure the safety of students and security of the school is maintained, and shall deal only with emergency matters as they may arise, with required assistance from the staff of the Board regional offices. 18.04 Where absences of administrative personnel continue for more than five (5) consecutive days, the Teacher(s) in Charge will assume all administrative duties, excluding only evaluation of instruction and personnel. 18.05 Whenever possible, the Teacher in Charge shall be selected from those teachers who have expressed an interest in performing this function. A teacher has the right to refuse to act as a Teacher in Charge except where the school would otherwise be left unattended. 18.06 Where the appointment of a Teacher in Charge is less than one (1) day a substitute teacher may be provided, but where the appointment is for one (1) or more days a substitute teacher shall be provided to relieve the Teacher in Charge of regular teaching duties.
TEACHER IN CHARGE. If a teacher is placed in charge of a building during the absence of the principal, and when the principal’s absence will be one-half day or longer, the teacher will be relieved from either the office or classroom assignment.
TEACHER IN CHARGE. 9.12.1 In the absence of a site administrator, a Teacher-In-Charge may assume leadership activities at the school site. When a Teacher-In- Charge assumes leadership activities for a period in excess of 21 consecutive workdays, the Teacher-In-Charge shall be paid an additional $1,000.00 per month.

A Teacher-in-Charge shall strive to ensure the safety of students and the security of the school. A Teacher-in-Charge shall be responsible for the routine administrative and managerial duties of the Principal, the Principal's teaching assignment, if any, (except when no Teacher-Teaching-on-Call is provided for the teaching assignment of the Teacher-in-Charge) and for any emergent matters which may arise. Where necessary a Teacher-in-Charge may request assistance from District supervisory staff. 4. A Teacher-in-Charge shall not be required to assume the duties specified in this Article for a period exceeding five (5) consecutive days at any one time unless otherwise mutually agreed to by the Teacher-In-Charge and the Superintendent or designate. 5. A Teacher-in-Charge shall assume those duties and responsibilities in Article B.23.3 on each occasion when no Administrative Officer is on site. 6. Whenever possible a minimum of three (3) days direct notice shall be provided to the designated Teacher-in-Charge prior to being required to assume Teacher-in-Charge responsibilities. In emergent situations the designated Teacher-in-Charge should assume Teacher-in-Charge responsibilities without direct notification. 7. TEACHER IN CHARGE. 31.1 A teacher may be appointed by the Board or its agent as a Teacher in Charge in accordance with this Article. 31.2 In the event that all administrative personnel assigned to the school are absent from the school, there shall be a Teacher in Charge selected in accordance with Article 31.5 from the teachers on staff with a permanent contract. If only one (1) permanent contract teacher exists at the school, the teacher in charge may be selected from the school’s probationary contract teachers. If no teacher on staff with a permanent contract exists in the school, then the teacher to be selected will be either a probationary or term contract teacher. If no probationary or term contract teacher is available, then the person to be selected will be a substitute. 31.3 The Teacher in Charge, when requested to act, shall attend to ensuring that routine supervision adequate to secure the safety of students and security of the school is maintained, and shall deal only with emergency matters as they may arise, with required assistance from the Board regional office. 31.4 Where absences of administrative personnel continue for more than five (5) consecutive school days, the Teacher(s) in Charge will assume all administrative duties, excluding only formal evaluation of instruction and personnel. 31.5 Whenever possible, the Teacher in Charge shall be selected from those teachers who have expressed an interest in performing this function. Should all administrative officers and head teachers be away from the school premises for a half day or more, the principal or his/her designate shall appoint a teacher as teacher in charge for the required period of time. TEACHER IN CHARGE a) A member may agree to act as a teacher in charge for a short time absence of a Principal or Vice-Principal. The term of any individual teacher in charge is limited to twenty (20) consecutive days and to not more than forty (40) days in a school year. b) If a member acts as teacher in charge, they shall be compensated at the rate of $30.00 per day. An occasional teacher will be hired to assume the member’s classroom responsibilities for the second consecutive day if the Principal/Vice Principal is out of the geographic area.
