Common use of TEACHER MENTORS Clause in Contracts

TEACHER MENTORS. (271) A mentor shall be assigned to every probationary teacher. If a teacher is new to the profession and/or has not acquired tenure in any Michigan public school system, a mentor shall be assigned for three (3) years. A Michigan tenured teacher shall be appointed a mentor for the length of his/her probationary period. A mentor shall be assigned to each probationary teacher within five (5) days of the beginning of the school year. A list of teachers and retirees who agree to mentor will be compiled or updated by June 1 of each year. This list will be developed by the administration in consultation with the Association. The Building AR or Department Chairperson will be consulted prior to such assignments or in the event of a change.
