Paraeducators. A Paraeducator who has successfully completed a probationary period of ninety (90) calendar days. The term Paraeducators shall include all Paraeducators as defined in Appendix B. Paraeducators will work a 186-day contract, 7½ hours per day and receive four (4) paid holidays unless otherwise specified.
Paraeducators. The Board shall determine the need for paraeducators to be employed each year after a recommendation by the Superintendent. The Superintendent will allocate such paraeducators to each area in accordance with the Staffing Plan as adopted by the Board.

Paraeducators a. employed at the Technical & Education Center shall not be entitled to be assigned to positions outside of the Technical & Education Center unless they have seniority in such positions due to previous employment.
Paraeducators. Paraeducators hired after January 1, 2007 shall be eligible for monthly single subscriber premium. The hourly wage of such employees shall be the Alternative Wage Scale. The Alternative Wage Scale is $2.00 more per hour at each step than the hourly wage such employee would otherwise receive (Xxxxxxxx X-0, A-2). Effective with new hires on or after August 28, 2013, the alternative wage scale is $1.00 more per hour at each step than the hourly wage such employee would otherwise receive (Appendix A-1, A-2).
Paraeducators. 9.4.3.1 A Paraeducator with four or more consecutive years of no unsatisfactory markings will have at least one (1) formal observation annually. This observation is to be announced, be at least 20 minutes in length, and be followed within ten (10) days by a post conference unless illness or emergency prevents such conference. In such event the conference shall be held as soon as practicable. Communication with a Paraeducator’s teacher will help identify times/environments for observations.
9.4.3.2 A Paraeducator with less than four consecutive years of no unsatisfactory markings will have a least two (2) formal observations annually. One of these observations is to be announced and one unannounced, be at least 20 minutes in length, and be followed within ten (10) days by a post conference unless illness or emergency prevents such conference. In such event the conference shall be held as soon as practicable. Communication with a Paraeducator’s teacher will help identify times/environments for observations.
Paraeducators. The parties recognize the important role played by paraeducators and agree that paraeducator assistance will be provided as follows to work both in the special education room and to work in the general education room as needed to provide inclusive experiences for students as directed by the special education teacher. Special education teachers with lower caseloads will work collaboratively with general education teachers at the secondary level, the curricular leader or department head to share paraeducator time as needed to meet the needs of special education students in the building. In the event that additional assistance is needed to meet student needs, the teacher may request a meeting with the building administrator and appropriate district staff to address the situation. The following paraeducator hours are based on: Resource Room/Integrated Program 30 hr/wk for each 30 students Self-Contained Academic/Support Center 65 hr/wk for each 12 students Self-Contained Life Skills/Adaptive Support Center 65 hr/wk for each 10 students Emotional Behavioral Disorders/School Adjustment 65 hr/wk for each 10 students Preschool/Early Childhood Education 32.5 hr/wk for each 12 students with IEPs in each session (65 hrs/wk for 12 students with IEPs in both sessions) Paraeducator staffing may be added to special education classrooms with high impact students based on the unique needs of students. Other remedies will be explored with the teacher and principal. Beginning in the 2018-19 school year, Secondary ELL paraeducator assistance for English language development services will be allocated using the following formula: The 2017-18 school year will be a transition year between the prior staffing formula for Secondary ELL paraeducators and the new formula. As paraeducators separate from employment during the 2017-18 school year, or change assignments out of ELL positions, staffing will be adjusted to more closely fit the formula above. ELL paraeducator assistance for elementary English development services will be allocated at 15.0 hours per day for each 90 students.
Paraeducators. 1. Inservice Paraeducators who volunteer to attend inservice and are approved to attend will receive their regular hourly rate of pay up to but not exceeding the amount teachers receive per hour.
Paraeducators. Paraeducators hired after January 1, 2007 shall be eligible for district paid single subscriber health, dental, and vision insurance coverages. Effective July 1, 2017, paraeducators hired on or after July 1, 2017, and completing five (5) consecutive years of service with the district, shall be eligible to elect two-person or full family district paid health, dental, and vision insurance coverage during the first available open enrollment period. For insurance purposes only, the five (5) consecutive years of service for all paraeducators with a hire date prior to July 1, 2017, begins accruing on July 1, 2017.
Paraeducators. 1. In case of lay off in this classification, the following criteria shall determine the order in which paraeducators will be reduced.
a. School/program level (1) Library (2) Reading Tutors (3) Special Education
b. Quality of performance based on an annual evaluation.
c. Seniority shall be the determining criterion if quality of performance is substantially equal. Seniority is defined as total number of years of continued employment in the Xxxxxx School District. Seniority is not accrued by employees on unpaid leave nor by part time paraeducators (those working less than the standard work day).
2. The school administration shall consider the applications of terminated employees for such positions which may become available in subsequent years provided that said terminated employees apply in a timely manner when a position becomes vacant. A previously employed paraprofessional who returns to a paraprofessional position shall resume employment, with the School District, at no less than the step occupied when terminated. At the time paraprofessional vacancies occur, all paraeducators who were terminated under this article during the previous two years shall be notified of such vacancies at their last known address.
