Common use of Terms of Engagement Clause in Contracts

Terms of Engagement. (a) Crib Break Not more than 30 minutes nor less than 20 minutes shall be allowed to Teachers each day for a midday crib break. Such crib break shall be counted as time worked. Provided however that a Teacher may, by agreement with the school, leave the premises during the crib break. Where such reasonable request has been made by the Teacher, the school shall give favourable consideration to any such request. Such time away from the premises shall not count as time worked. (b) First Aid Certificate (i) Teachers shall be required to obtain and maintain an approved first aid certificate. (ii) A Teacher employed in the preschool will attend such first aid courses in the Teacher’s own time. (c) Part-Time Teachers The days of attendance of a Part-Time Teacher may be varied at the commencement of each calendar year or by mutual agreement between the Teacher and the school with four term weeks’ notice. The normal hours of a Part-Time Teacher shall not be varied without agreement. Agreement will not be unreasonably withheld.
