Common use of Transfer Outside Bargaining Unit Clause in Contracts

Transfer Outside Bargaining Unit. An employee who is transferred to a position outside of the bargaining unit for up to one year shall retain but not accumulate seniority while in that position. For the purpose of backfilling pregnancy/parental leave only, the period will be twenty (20) months. Any extension to such transfer will be negotiated by the parties. An employee will only be covered for a subsequent transfer out of the bargaining unit if in the interim they had returned to and worked in a bargaining unit position for at least the same duration as their previous assignment outside the bargaining unit.
