Shift Preference. 200 Shift preference will be granted on the basis of seniority within the classification as openings occur. The transfer to the desired shift will be effected within two (2) weeks following the end of the current pay period within which a written request is made, provided the employee can do the work.
a. An employee who is assigned to a specific shift based on his/her request shall remain assigned to that shift and not be eligible for another shift preference transfer for a period of six (6) months.
Shift Preference. Seniority shall determine shift preference, subject only to ability to perform the job required.
Shift Preference. A nurse who accepts recall, or has been displaced, to a position on a shift other than the shift from which the nurse was laid off or displaced, shall retain preference over all other applicants to return to open positions on the nurse’s original shift, until return to that shift. This preference, for which the Medical Center shall have no notification obligation, shall continue for a period of one year from the date of displacement or recall.

A shift preference may be exercised not more than once every three (3) months and no more than two (2) times per year. Any newly created GMA position or posted GMM vacancy will first be offered to existing GMS/GMM/GMA staff members at the time the vacancy occurs. The method of filling the vacancies by a GMS/GMM/GMA shall be by shift preference. The GMS with the earliest seniority date that notifies the University of his/her desire to exercise shift preference shall move to such shift at the beginning of the next pay period. If no GMS exercises shift preference, the GMM with the earliest seniority date that notifies the University of his/her desire to exercise shift preference shall move to such shift at the beginning of the next pay period. If no GMM exercises shift preference, the GMA with the earliest seniority date that notifies the University of his/her desire to exercise shift preference shall move to such shift at the beginning of the next pay period. All staff members within the GMS/GMM/GMA classification will be notified by a shift preference notification posting when a vacancy occurs. The staff members have five days from the date of the posting to notify the University via a shift preference form that they are exercising shift preference. The Union will receive a copy of completed forms and the end of the notification period. Forms that are not completed and turned in within the five-day time frame will not be considered when the selection is made. When the GMS/GMM/GMA staff members have exhausted all shift preferences, the vacancy shall be posted as a GMA, in accordance with the contract language. An employee selected to fill a GMA vacancy may be assigned to work with a GMM, GMS, or other specialist on alternate shifts for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days. Thereafter, the GMA will be assigned to the posted shift.

Shift Preference. The Employer will, upon written request, make shift assignments on seniority within classifications as vacancies occur.
Shift Preference. In the Department of Corrections and the Department of Community Health, Chapter Presidents, Chief Stewards, and MCO State Executive Board members (if employed in the Bargaining Unit) will be granted superseniority for the purpose of selecting the shifts and days off (where appropriate) that would be the most convenient for such Union official to have the necessary contact with management or in order to carry out responsibilities under this Agreement. Work crew leader and transportation positions shall be exempt from this superseniority provision, although nothing shall preclude Union officials from using their actual seniority to attain such positions. This selection will be made on the basis of the first available opening after the Union official properly makes his/her selection known under Parts A and C of Article 15. The 30-day waiting period provided for in Article 15 shall not apply.
Shift Preference. Provisions pertaining to shift preference shall be negotiated locally in the plants. Any such agreements must have sufficient flexibility to give full protection to efficiency of operations at all times.
Shift Preference. The parties agree it is to their mutual benefit to define further their intentions as to reasonable procedural clarifications they have developed within the existing language of their Collective Agreement to make day shifts available to existing employees. They, therefore, agree on the following outline for the duration of the Collective Agreement. The Company will make reasonable efforts to accommodate existing employees who have indicated their interest and consistent availability to work all shifts to be offered day shifts before offering these day hours to new hires, taking into consideration the needs of the business which may include the requirement that employees must still be available for evening shifts.
