Tuition Reimbursement. A. The Board of Education of School District 149 and the Classroom Teachers’ Association agree to the following: The Board will set aside $75,000.00 to reimburse each teacher an amount not to exceed $1,000.00 in order for teachers to take graduate level classes, earn advanced degrees, professional credits, and/or CPDU’s. All provisions of PNA Appendix A will apply. To be considered for reimbursement: workshops, seminars, credits, courses, and/or degrees shall pay relate to the teacher’s recertification plan or shall relate to the teacher’s teaching assignment. In addition, courses must carry graduate credit, be taken at an accredited institution, and the teacher must receive a portion grade of “C” or better, or “Pass” if a pass/fail system is employed. The teacher shall receive approval from the Superintendent prior to taking workshops, seminars, credits, courses and /or degrees. Teachers shall submit transcripts or certificates of attendance/completion and an invoice/billing receipt to the Superintendent no later than June 15th of the cost of tuition fees for courses taken by teachers up to and including twelve (12) credit hours per school year in an educational field or related area approved by which the Boardclasses were taken. Tuition Reimbursement. A. The Board shall pay Committee encourages professional development within the staff and recognizes this achievement through the salary schedule and by means of reimbursements for all or a portion of certain tuition costs subject to the cost following conditions. a. Tuition Reimbursement. A. 1. All teachers who have completed three (3) years of employment in the Narragansett School System shall be eligible for tuition reimbursement subject to the conditions and procedures set forth in this Article. a. Tuition Reimbursement. A. A full-time teacher shall receive tuition reimbursement at the rate of $353 per credit hour not to exceed eight credit hours. Tuition Reimbursement. A. Employees will be eligible for tuition, lab fees, and textbooks for advanced education course work taken at an accredited college or university subject to the following conditions: (a) Each course shall be clearly job related or serve as a prerequisite for an approved job related degree; e.g. bachelors of fire science, fire protection engineering, fire administration, or emergency medicine or their equivalent, or masters of public administration or its equivalent. Coursework will be credited no later than the third pay period following October 1st. 4. The Board shall pay will provide reimbursement at the rate of $105.00 for the 2013/2014, 2014/2015, and 2015/2016 school years. Tuition reimbursement payments by the Board Superintendent in writing for advanced degrees (masters, doctorate or other generally recognized degree of graduate education) taken at an accredited institution and showing an earned grade of A or B. All classes included in a pre- approved advanced degree program shall be taxed only as required by IRS rules and regulationsconsidered approved for reimbursement. Reimbursement With the approval of the Superintendent in advance, teachers may be reimbursed for non-degree classes at the rate listed above. Employees will be submit requests for approval in accordance writing. Any employee who takes advantage of the tuition reimbursement benefit xxxxx shall, unless subject to reduction in force, nonrenewal, or termination, remain employed with the following percentages: 1. Up to and including Master’s Degree – 75% tuition reimbursement 2. Beyond Master’s Degree - 50% tuition reimbursement B. Teachers with less than five (5) years District for a period of continuous service receiving tuition reimbursement shall be required to remain an employee of the Board for at least two (2) school years following the such reimbursement. Teachers with more than five (5) years of continuous service , or shall be required to remain an employee become immediately liable, upon leaving employment of the Board District, for the entire year following the reimbursement. In that regard, the teacher shall be required to sign a reimbursement agreement. Teachers with less than five (5) years of continuous service who voluntarily terminate employment shall return 75% of all tuition reimbursement monies to the Board for the previous two (2) school years. Teachers with more than five (5) years of continuous service who voluntarily terminate employment shall return 100% of all tuition reimbursement monies to the Board for the previous semester. Teachers who retire from the BCPSS are not required to reimburse the Board. C. Teachers who minimally hold a standard professional certificate and who obtain a post graduate degree in a critical shortage area as identified by BCPSS (e.g. math, science or special education) will receive a $1,500 payment not to be added to the base rate. Such payment shall be paid at $500 per school year, in June, over a three (3) year period. Only full time classroom teachers are eligible and payment shall be contingent upon the teacher receiving a satisfactory evaluation each year. D. The grade requirement for tuition reimbursement shall be “B” or better. E. Applications for course approval and proof of passing shall be hand delivered (receipt provided) or made by certified mail to the Office of Human Capital, Attention: Tuition Reimbursement, 000 X. Xxxxx Xxxxxx, Xxxxxxxxx, Xxxxxxxx 00000. F. The deadlines for submitting applications for approval cost of tuition reimbursement provided in the preceding year. Nothing herein shall be as follows: 1read to establish a right or expectation of continued employment for any period of time. October 1 – Fall semester 2. February 1 – Spring semester 3. July 1 – Summer semester Note: A tuition payment statement or xxxx with a canceled check must accompany the completed application. Should any deadline fall on a weekend or holiday, applications The total annual reimbursement amount per contract year shall be due limited to a maximum of Twenty-Eight Thousand Dollars ($28,000.00) and subdivided to a maximum of Nine Thousand Three Hundred and Thirty-Three ($9,333.00) per semester. The semesters shall be Fall, Spring, and Summer School. The semester allotment shall be distributed per credit hour among the employees approved each semester for such reimbursement. Any amount unused per semester shall rollover to the following workdaysemester in the same contract year. G. The Board shall notify all applicants of course approval within fourteen (14) calendar days of application. H. If all appropriate information and documentation that a course has been passed is completed and submitted by the specified deadline in Article XIV, Section E & F, payment for tuition reimbursement shall be made within forty (40) school days.
