– UNION COMMITTEES AND REPRESENTATIVES. 6.01 The Employer will recognize the following: (a) Two (2) employee representatives. Upon mutual agreement of the parties, the number may be altered from time to time. (b) A Grievance Committee of two (2) employees. (c) A Negotiating Committee of two (2) employees. (d) A Union-Management Committee composed of an equal number of representatives of the Employer and the Union. Meetings of this Committee shall be held at the request of either party, but no more than once quarterly. The purpose of this Committee shall be to discuss matters relating to workload, scheduling matters, job content and other matters of mutual concern. Minutes of these meetings shall be maintained and signed by both parties. The role of Chairperson shall rotate between the parties. (e) All joint Employer Union meetings noted above shall be scheduled where practical, during the employee’s working hours. The Employer will provide replacement staff where operationally required. 6.02 The Union will supply the Employer with the names of its representatives and any changes thereto. 6.03 The committees shall have the right to have the assistance of representatives or consultants from or acting on behalf of the Ontario Nurses' Association. (a) The Employer shall pay representatives and Committee members their respective salaries for all time lost from regularly scheduled hours investigating and/or processing grievances, up to but not including the arbitration stage, negotiating the Collective Agreement and renewals thereof, up to and including conciliation, and while attending meetings with the Employer. Employees on the evening and night shift shall receive paid time off for the actual day of the negotiating meeting. Notwithstanding the foregoing, it is understood and agreed that in circumstances where local issue bargaining commences after a central conciliation process, the first day of such local negotiations will be treated for purposes of pay as if the negotiations commenced prior to conciliation. (b) It is agreed that members of the Grievance Committee may require a reasonably brief period of time during the day to fulfill their duties as Committee members as set out in a) above. However, it is further agreed that members of the Grievance Committee have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Employer and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor or designate. (b) All joint Employer Union time spent by a member of the Health and Safety committee attending meetings noted above of the committee during her regularly scheduled hours and carrying out her duties shall be scheduled where practical, during the employee’s working hours. The deemed to be work time for which she shall be paid by her Employer will provide replacement staff where operationally requiredat her regular or premium rate as may be proper and she shall be entitled to such time from her work as is necessary. 6.02 6.03 The Union will supply the Employer with the names of its their representatives and any changes thereto. 6.03 The committees shall have the right to have the assistance of representatives or consultants from or acting on behalf of the Ontario Nurses' Association. 6.04 (a) The Employer shall pay Union acknowledges that the nurse representatives and Committee members their respective salaries for all time lost from regularly scheduled hours investigating and/or processing grievances, up to but not including the arbitration stage, negotiating the Collective Agreement and renewals thereof, up to and including conciliation, and while attending meetings with the Employer. Only one (1) member in total of both the nurse representatives and the grievance committee shall be given the opportunity of interviewing each newly hired employee, for allowed to leave her regular duties to investigate and/or process a period not to exceed fifteen (15) minutes, and as early as practical during the probation period, for the purposes of advising such employees of their rights and obligations under the terms of this Agreement, and the Union may provide membership forms at this meetinggrievance.

The Employer will provide replacement staff where operationally required. 6.02 The Union will supply the Employer with the names of its representatives and any changes thereto. 6.03 (a) The committees Home recognizes that the function of the Grievance Committee Member as described herein includes the investigation and presentation of grievances as provided for in this Agreement. The Union acknowledges and agrees that the Grievance Committee Member is employed to perform assigned duties for the Home and that she shall not leave her work during her shift to perform her duties under grievance procedures provided for in this Agreement without first obtaining the permission of the Director of Nursing, which permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. It is further agreed that only one (1) Grievance Committee Member shall be involved in the processing of a grievance at any given time. Provided the Grievance Committee Member's absence does not unreasonably interfere with the efficient operations of the Home, the Grievance Committee Member shall not suffer any loss of pay for time necessarily spent during her shift processing grievances under the grievance procedure, up to but not including arbitration. (b) The two (2) Nurses on the Negotiating Committee will be paid by the Employer for time spent during negotiations for those hours for which they would otherwise have been regularly scheduled for work up to and including conciliation. After conciliation and thereafter, the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer the full amount for salary paid for negotiations in a timely fashion. Notwithstanding the definition of the first shift of the day, employees on the night shift preceding or the evening and night shift on the actual day of the negotiation meeting shall receive paid time off. 6.04 The Union Committees in exercising any right given to Nurses under this Collective Agreement may have the assistance of representatives or consultants from or acting on behalf of the Ontario Nurses' AssociationAssociation where same is expressly provided. Otherwise, the Union Committees wishing the assistance of representatives or consultants from or acting on behalf of the Ontario Nurses' Association must receive the approval of the Home. Such approval shall not be unreasonably withheld by the Employer. (a) 6.05 The Employer shall pay representatives advise a Union Representative of all new hires and Committee members their respective salaries for all time lost from regularly scheduled hours investigating and/or processing grievances, up to but not including the arbitration stage, negotiating the Collective Agreement and renewals thereof, up to and including conciliation, and while attending meetings with the Employer. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. 6.05 The Employer agrees that a Union representative shall be given the opportunity of interviewing each newly hired employee, for a orientation period not to exceed fifteen (15) minutesminutes to interview newly hired Nurses and to give membership forms. 6.06 The Employer agrees that if it requires a Nurse to serve on a committee, and as early as practical the meetings shall be scheduled during the probation period, Nurse's regular working hours or the Nurse shall be paid for the purposes all hours spent outside her/his regular working hours at her/his regular rate of advising such employees of their rights and obligations under the terms of this Agreement, and the Union may provide membership forms at this meetingpay.

(a) The Employer shall pay representatives and Committee committee members their respective salaries for all time lost from regularly scheduled hours investigating and/or processing grievances, up to but not including the arbitration stage, negotiating the Collective Agreement collective agreement and renewals thereof, up to and including conciliation, and while attending meetings with the Employer. Employees on the evening and night shift shifts shall receive paid time off for the actual day of the negotiating meeting. Notwithstanding the foregoing, it is understood and agreed that in circumstances where local issue bargaining commences after a central conciliation process, the first day of such local negotiations will be treated for purposes of pay as if the negotiations commenced prior to conciliation. (b) It is agreed that members of the Grievance Committee may require a reasonably brief period of time during the day to fulfill their duties as Committee members as set out in (a) above. However, it is further agreed that members of the Grievance Committee have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Employer and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor or designate. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. 6.05 7.05 The Employer agrees that a Union representative shall be given the opportunity of interviewing each newly hired employee, for a period not to exceed fifteen thirty (1530) minutes, and as early as practical during the probation period, for the purposes of advising such employees of their rights and obligations under acquainting the terms of this Agreement, and employee with the Union may provide membership forms and collective agreement. It is further agreed that only one (1) Grievance Committee Member shall be involved in the processing of a grievance at any given time. Provided the Grievance Committee Member's absence does not unreasonably interfere with the efficient operations of the Home, the Grievance Committee Member shall not suffer any loss of pay for time necessarily spent during their shift processing grievances under the grievance procedure, up to but not including arbitration. (b) The two (2) Nurses on the Negotiating Committee will be paid by the Employer for time spent during negotiations for those hours for which they would otherwise have been regularly scheduled for work up to and including conciliation. After conciliation and thereafter, the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer the full amount for salary paid for negotiations in a timely fashion. Notwithstanding the definition of the first shift of the day, employees on the night shift preceding or the evening and night shift on the actual day of the negotiation meeting shall receive paid time off. 6.04 The Union Committees in exercising any right given to Nurses under this Collective Agreement may have the assistance of representatives or consultants from or acting on behalf of the Ontario Nurses' AssociationAssociation where same is expressly provided. The Employer will pay the Bargaining Unit President or designate at her/his regular straight time hourly rate for all time spent attending meetings with the Employer outside her/his regularly scheduled hours. The Union acknowledges and agrees that the Grievance Committee Member is employed to perform assigned duties for the Home and that she shall not leave her work during her shift to perform her duties under grievance procedures provided for in this Agreement without first obtaining the permission of the Director of Nursing, which permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. It is further agreed that only one (1) Grievance Committee Member shall be involved in the processing of a grievance at any given time. Provided the Grievance Committee Member's absence does not unreasonably interfere with the efficient operations of the Home, the Grievance Committee Member shall not suffer any loss of pay for time necessarily spent during her shift processing grievances under the grievance procedure, up to but not including arbitration. (b) The two (2) Nurses on the Negotiating Committee will be paid by the Employer for time spent during negotiations for those hours for which they would otherwise have been regularly scheduled for work up to and including conciliation. After conciliation and thereafter, the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer the full amount for salary paid for negotiations in a timely fashion. 6.04 The Union Committees in exercising any right given to Nurses under this Collective Agreement may have the assistance of representatives or consultants from or acting on behalf of the Ontario Nurses' AssociationAssociation where same is expressly provided. – UNION COMMITTEES AND REPRESENTATIVES. 6.01 The Employer will recognize the following: (a) Two (2) employee Employee representatives. Employees on the evening and night shift shall receive paid time off for the actual day of the negotiating meeting. Notwithstanding the foregoing, it is understood and agreed that in circumstances where local issue bargaining commences after a central conciliation process, the first day of such local negotiations will be treated for purposes of pay as if the negotiations commenced prior to conciliation. (b) It is agreed that members of the Grievance Committee may require a reasonably brief period of time during the day to fulfill their duties as Committee members as set out in a) above. However, it is further agreed that members of the Grievance Committee have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Employer and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor or designate. (e) All joint Employer Union meetings noted above shall be scheduled where practical, during the employee’s working hours. The Employer will provide replacement staff where operationally required. 6.02 The Union will supply the Employer with the names of its representatives and any changes thereto. 6.03 The committees shall have the right to have the assistance of representatives or consultants from or acting on behalf of the Ontario Nurses' Association. (a) The Employer shall pay representatives and Committee members their respective salaries for all time lost from regularly scheduled hours investigating and/or processing grievances, up to but not including the arbitration stage, negotiating the Collective Agreement and renewals thereof, up to and including conciliation, and while attending meetings with the Employer. Employees on the evening and night shift shall receive paid time off for the actual day of the negotiating meeting. Notwithstanding the foregoing, it is understood and agreed that in circumstances where local issue bargaining commences after a central conciliation process, the first day of such local negotiations will be treated for purposes of pay as if the negotiations commenced prior to conciliation. (b) It is agreed that members of the Grievance Committee may require a reasonably brief period of time during the day to fulfill their duties as Committee members as set out in a) above. However, it is further agreed that members of the Grievance Committee have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Employer and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor or designate. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. 6.05 The Employer agrees that a Union representative shall be given the opportunity of interviewing each newly hired employee, for a period not to exceed fifteen (15) minutes, and as early as practical during the probation period, for the purposes of advising such employees of their rights and obligations under the terms of this Agreement, and the Union may provide membership forms at this meeting.
