Union Stewards and Grievance Committee. 8.01 The Union may select three (3) stewards with at least one year of seniority to represent employees one of which will be the Chief Xxxxxxx. The Union shall appoint the Chief Xxxxxxx to act as the Chair of the grievance committee. 8.02 The Employer agrees to recognize a Union grievance committee to assist employees in presenting grievances to the designated representatives of the Employer in accordance with the grievance procedure. The Committee shall be composed of the Chief Xxxxxxx or Unit Chair plus one xxxxxxx. 8.03 The Union shall inform the Employer in writing of the names of the Stewards, the Chief Xxxxxxx and the Unit Chair and Employer shall not be obligated to recognize such personnel until it has been so informed. 8.04 The Union acknowledges that stewards have regular duties to perform on behalf of the Employer and that stewards shall not leave such duties during working hours without first obtaining permission from the Employer. Where it is necessary for a Xxxxxxx to investigate an employee's grievance or complaint during working hours, the employees shall not be disturbed in the performance of her assigned duties unless that employee's supervisor has given that employee permission to discuss the matter with the Xxxxxxx. 8.05 For clarification it is understood that the “Unit Chair” may replace any other bargaining unit member of any committee or xxxxxxx at any time it is deemed appropriate by the Union to do so. 8.06 Management to provide a two drawer lockable filing cabinet exclusively for union use/access and the Employer will undertake to provide space on an “as needed” basis for shop stewards to conduct meetings with members regarding hotel operational matters.

Union Stewards and Grievance Committee. 8.01 The Union may select Section 10.1 Employees within the bargaining unit shall be represented by three (3) stewards Stewards selected from different work shifts with at least one year of seniority to represent employees one of which will be the Stewards designated as the Chief Xxxxxxx. 8.02 Stewards and Grievance Committee Members and their work locations and supervisor. The Employer agrees to recognize a Union grievance committee to assist employees in presenting grievances to the designated representatives of the Employer shall provide an updated list as changes occur. Union Stewards shall be elected in accordance with the bylaws of Local 1180.
Section 10.2 Before investigating or engaging in any activity relating to EC unit grievances, a Union Xxxxxxx shall request authorization from his/her immediate supervisor to engage in such activity. Upon authorization from his/her supervisor, the Xxxxxxx shall be allowed a reasonable time to discuss and/or investigate an alleged or actual grievance procedureor attend disciplinary and grievance hearings without loss of pay for such time spent up to a maximum of two (2) hours per week, or four (4) hours per week for the Chief Xxxxxxx. No more than one Xxxxxxx shall attend any grievance hearing, and all time utilized by Stewards during work hours shall be based on pre- approval from supervision to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained. Any Employee who requests to discuss a grievance matter with a Xxxxxxx during working hours shall first request and receive the authorization of his/her immediate supervisor.
Section 10.3 The Grievance Committee for the AFSCME Local 1180 shall be composed of no more than four (4) Executive Board Officers and the Chief Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxx(s). The Grievance Committee Members shall request authorization from their supervisors prior to attending a Human Resources Director or Unit Chair plus one xxxxxxxdesignee’s grievance meeting for an EC unit member and shall receive their regular compensation for such time spent during regularly scheduled working hours in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement.
8.03 The Section 10.4 All Union business shall inform be conducted at a time and location to cause the least possible interference with the work assignments of Stewards and/or other Employees.
Section 10.5 Stewards requesting leave for official Union business shall submit to the on-duty supervisor a leave request at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance, if practical. Requests may be denied if the leave would unduly disrupt operations.
Section 10.6 Stewards will be provided with access to City email.
Section 10.7 Employer in writing agrees to allow the Union a bulletin board for the exclusive use of AFSCME Local 1180 at the names of the Stewards, the Chief Xxxxxxx 911 Center at a location agreed to by management and the Unit Chair Union.
Section 10.8 The bulletin board shall be used for the purpose of posting notices of AFSCME Local 1180 meetings, AFSCME Local 1180 elections, AFSCME Local 1180 election returns, AFSCME Local 1180 appointments to office, AFSCME Local 1180 recruitment, education, recreational, and Employer social affairs, and such other matters as may be agreed upon by AFSCME Local 1180 and Employer.
Section 10.9 It is understood that material of a political, controversial, or inflammatory nature shall not be obligated posted. The Director or designee shall be authorized to recognize such personnel until it has been so informedremove any material from the bulletin board which does not conform to the intent of this Article.
8.04 The Union acknowledges that stewards have regular duties to perform on behalf Section 10.10 It shall be the responsibility of the Employer AFSCME Local 1180 to maintain the bulletin board, to insure prompt removal of outdated materials, and that stewards shall not leave such duties during working hours without first obtaining permission from the Employer. Where it is necessary for a Xxxxxxx to investigate an employee's grievance or complaint during working hours, the employees shall not be disturbed in the performance of her assigned duties unless that employee's supervisor has given that employee permission to discuss the matter with the Xxxxxxx.
8.05 For clarification it is understood further insure that the “Unit Chair” may replace any other bargaining unit member posting of any committee or xxxxxxx at any time it such material is deemed appropriate by limited only to display on the Union to do sobulletin board provided in Section 10.7 above.
