Unpaid Release Time. The Employer will consider a request for a leave of absence without pay, to an Employee elected or appointed to full-time union office, upon application by the Union in writing. Such leave, if granted, shall be for a period of 1 calendar year from the date of appointment unless extended further by agreement of the Parties. It is understood that not more than 1 Employee may be on such leave at any time and that the decision to grant or not grant such leave is the Employer’s sole prerogative.
