Common use of Winter Shift for Highways Maintenance Crews Clause in Contracts

Winter Shift for Highways Maintenance Crews. (a) The Union and the Employer recognize that the implementation for highway maintenance winter shifts is largely dependent on winter conditions and that shifts may have to be implemented on short notice. Where winter shift schedules are implemented with less than forty-eight (48) hours notice, the provisions of Article 15.3 shall apply. (b) However, it is agreed that wherever possible the negotiations of these shift schedules pursuant to Article 14.2 should be undertaken at least thirty (30) days prior to anticipated commencement and that fifteen (15) days should be provided for any sign up and selection process which is involved. The Employer will post the winter schedule listing the Operator classifications required for each shift and sign-up will be in accordance with Article 15.6.
