WORK SCHEDULES AND OVERTIME. A. The standard work week for all Employees shall be forty (40) hours per week. 1. Upon written application for same, laid off employees should be granted first priority for being called as substitutes within the classification from which they were laid off. Laid off employees serving as substitutes shall be compensated at the regular rate of pay for work performed prior substitutes in that classification.
J. Extra trip assignments shall be assigned by seniority, with extra trips posted at the bus garage. Once a driver has taken an extra trip or refused an extra trip, his/her name shall drop to the bottom of the extra trip seniority list, with the extra trip list continuing to rotate. Extra trips will not put a driver into an Employee’s completion of forty overtime situation. A driver reporting for an extra trip that is cancelled without notification to the driver shall receive up to two (402) hours pay.
1. Substitution for drivers working as emergency substitutes will follow the seniority list and same rotation pattern as extra trip assignments. Drivers are responsible for the accuracy of the schedule rotation.
K. ACT OF GOD DAYS: Act of God days are defined as scheduled days of student instruction which are not held because of conditions not within the control of school authorities such as inclement weather, fires, epidemics, mechanical breakdowns, or health conditions as defined by the county or state health authorities.
1. Employees shall not be required to report to their job assignment and shall suffer no loss of wages.
a. Employees directed to report to work is during days off caused by the above conditions, shall be compensated at one-half times their regular rate of pay for all hours of such duty (in addition to receipt of their regular daily wage).
b. Payment for ten (10) month employees, if called in, will be at one-half times their regular rate of pay for all hours of such duty (in addition to receipt of their regular daily wage). Extra bus trips that occur on Act of God days will be paid at the rate of the work performedextra trip rate.
I. Pay for work performed prior to an Employee’s completion of forty (40) hours of work during the regular shift is at the higher rate assigned to the category of work c. If weather conditions are such that the Employee employee feels his/her safety for getting to and from work is performingjeopardized, he/she shall contact his/her immediate supervisor and upon the supervisor's agreement, the employee shall not be required to work and suffer no loss of wages.
