HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING. 15.01 The normal hours of work for an employee are not a guarantee of work per day or per week, or a guarantee of days of work per week. The normal hours of work shall be seven and one-half (7-1/2) hours per day, and seventy-five (75) hours in any bi-weekly period.
15.02 The normal daily shift shall consist of seven and one-half (7 ½) consecutive hours, exclusive of a one-half (1/2) hour unpaid meal period. For employees working the night shift, this one-half (1/2) hour will be paid. Employees shall be entitled to a fifteen (15) minute paid break during each half of the normal daily shift, at a time designated by the Employer. An employee may combine her rest periods in order to have one (1) thirty (30) minute break, providing she has prior approval from the Director of Nursing. When a meal period is interrupted requiring an employee to attend to a work related problem, then the balance of the unused meal period will be taken within two (2) hours of the interruption. If the employee is unable to reschedule such time, she shall be paid time and one-half (1½) her regular straight time hourly rate for all time worked in excess of her normal daily hours, in accordance with Article 16.01.
15.03 Employees required for reporting purposes shall remain at work for a period of up to fifteen (15) minutes which shall be unpaid. Should the reporting time extend beyond fifteen (15) minutes however, the entire period shall be considered overtime for the purposes of payment.
15.04 Requests for change in posted work schedules must be submitted in writing and co-signed by the employee willing to exchange days off or shifts and are subject to the discretion of the Administrator or her designate. In any event, it is understood that such a change initiated by the employee and approved by the Employer shall not result in overtime compensation or payment or any other claims on the Employer by any employee under the terms of this Agreement.
15.05 Where there is a change to Daylight Savings from Standard Time or vice-versa, an employee who is scheduled and works a full shift shall be paid for the actual hours worked at her regular straight time hourly rate.
15.06 There shall be no split shifts.
(a) There shall be a minimum of sixteen (16) hours off between changes of shift unless mutually agreed otherwise.
(b) An employee shall not be required to work more than seven (7) consecutive days without days off, unless mutually agreed to by the employee and the Employer.

HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING. 10.01 The hours of work shall be as set out in the Collective Agreement with forty (40) hours being the regular work week. In order that there should be consistency on the site between various affiliates of the Council, the following hours of work and scheduling prerogatives shall apply:
(a) The following Articles are intended to identify regular hours of work, shift hours, and overtime hours and are not to be construed as a guarantee of hours of work per day, per week, or with respect to days of work in any week.
(b) The regular work week shall consist of forty (40) hours of work. The start time for a regular working day or a compressed work week day will be between 6:00 and 8:00 a.m.
(c) Recognizing that it may be necessary to establish schedules that accommodate flights to and from the Project for workers from Alberta, workers from other Canadian Provinces, or for Temporary Foreign Workers that may be employed on the Project, the Owner, the Managing Contractor, or all or some of the contractors affected by this Agreement may institute the work schedules under Schedules attached to this Agreement. Certain of these Schedules will be referred to as “Fly-in Fly- out Schedules” and will apply to all workers who utilize flights arranged for the purposes of transporting workers to and from the Project. Workers on fly-in fly-out schedules will not be entitled to initial or terminal travel provisions or turn-around provisions under their respective Provincial Collective Agreement. Alternative Fly-in Fly-out work schedules may be developed by the Parties provided such are ratified by the Coordinating Committee and by the Council, through whatever ratification process the Coordinating Committee and the Council shall each determine.
(d) In addition to the scheduling prerogatives above, the Owner, Managing Contractor, or the Employer may select from among the work cycles in Schedules 1 through 4.
(e) When the final day of the shift cycle in Schedules 1 through 4 is reduced due to the timing of flights, overtime at time and one half shall apply to the last one and one half hours worked on that day.
(f) The Employer may also schedule shifts for which the start times are between 12:00 noon and 4:00 a.m. To be classified as shift work rather than as overtime, such shifts must be scheduled for at least one (1) regular work week. The premium(s) for any such second ("evening") or third ("night") shifts shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Agreement....
HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING. Note: Article 14 shall have no application to Community Health Workers and employees scheduled in a manner similar to Community Health Workers.
HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING. (a) Employees are paid based on a 40-hour work week but normally work fourteen 12-hour shifts over a 4-week period; employees are normally scheduled for either three 12-hour shifts or four 12-hour shifts in a week. At least 2 employees are normally scheduled on 8- hour maintenance shifts. The employee schedule on their second week of Maintenance would be available for vacation coverage within the USW Group.
(b) The Salary Grid referenced in the Collective Agreement represents full-time equivalent salaries for a regular 35-hour work week. Employees’ full-time equivalent salary will be adjusted proportionately to reflect a regular work week of 40 hours.
(c) Effective the date of ratification by both parties the normal work schedule is a 6-week rotation of: • Seven 12-hour night shifts over 2 weeks; • Seven 12-hour day shifts over 2 weeks; and • Ten 8-hour day shifts on maintenance over 2 weeks
(d) It is understood that the normal work schedule above is based on 6 employees normally working in the rotation.
(e) Employees who work fourteen 12-hour shifts over a 4-week period earn 8 hours of lieu time (“Earned Day Off”) in that period, which will be taken during the employee’s next scheduled maintenance week, normally on the first day of that week.
(f) When operational requirements deem it necessary to designate a temporary shift change that will last 1 month or less, the employee whose shift schedule is to be changed shall be given 5 days’ notice of the change in shift. Failure to give the required 5 days’ notice of the change in shift shall result in payment to the employee at 1.5 times their regular hourly rate for the first full shift so affected.
(g) Due to the requirements of the job, it is understood that the eating period for employees shall be a paid period of time. During all break times employees are required to remain in the control room and be available for emergency work. Break times cannot be accumulated and taken as time off.
(h) It is understood and agreed that the work of employees is not operationally suitable for Flexible Hours of Work arrangements, as set out in Article 20.08 of the Collective Agreement.
HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING. The following provisions are intended to designate normal hours of work on a daily tour and normal hours of work over the nurse schedule and shall not be construed to be a guarantee of work to be performed on each tour or during each work schedule.
(a) The regular hours of work for all full-time nurses shall be:
i) seven and one half (7.5) hours per day, exclusive of a one half (½) hour unpaid meal period and inclusive of two (2) paid fifteen

HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING. 15.01 The parties acknowledge the Employer has an obligation to meet their contractual requirements and client needs. Consequently scheduling will be subject to those parameters.
15.02 This Article shall set out the process for scheduling work assignments for Full- Time, Part-Time and Casual employees. It shall not be construed to be a guarantee of the amount of work per day or hours/visit of work per week or work location.
15.03 Nurses may flex their work schedule to accommodate their work life balance (time specific clients or shifts excluded), provided the needs of the clients are being met.
15.04 Employees will be scheduled for available work assignments subject to Article
15.05 in the following sequence:
(a) full-time employees in order of seniority;
(b) part-time employees in order of seniority;
(c) casual employees in order of seniority.
15.05 Employees shall be scheduled in accordance with the above, in order of seniority, subject to the following criteria:
(a) the skills, ability and classification required to meet the Client’s needs
(b) continuity of care giver; and
(c) geographic area.
15.06 An employee must make every effort to notify her Client Service Specialist (24 hours/day) with not less than four (4) hours or a much notice as possible, before the start of work assignment of her inability to report for work due to sickness. It is the employee’s responsibility to keep the Employer informed of the status of their sick leave and to advise the expected date of return to work.
15.07 Full time and part-time employees will be provided with a rotation covering a two week period (4 week period in Dryden) showing days on and days off. Exchanging shifts will be approved provided that no additional cost to the employer results from such exchange of shifts. The Employer will not make changes to the posted schedule without notifying the nurse. Communities that currently self schedule shall continue to do so.
